Job Title: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER (BDO)

Location: Nairobi, Kenya.

We are seeking to recruit a dynamic, highly motivated, and self-driven Business Development Officer (BDO) for the Nairobi market to join our commercial team. This role offers a great opportunity for candidates with logistics and commercial exposure. 

 

Role Summary

a)       Customer onboarding, conversion, and management to grow revenue.

b)       Building and maintaining relationships with the Company’s stakeholders including customers and partners,

c)        Analysing portfolios and industry data to identify opportunities for growth

d) Participating in the development and communication of the company’s products/services, prices, and policies.

e)       Providing insights to help develop and position offerings/ value proposition to grow revenue.

f)         Analyse customer feedback and data to determine how customers are using products and services.

g)       Collection of payments and recovery of company debts to enhance net customer value.

h)       Ensure compliance with business processes and applicable laws.

i)          Preparing and sharing market & sales reports and feedback.

Responsibilities

  • To promote, market, and sell the products and services of the company

  • Daily market/customer visits to prospect and cultivate business relationships to generate leads and opportunities for new business.

  • Generate appointments, visit, and conduct presentations and training to clients.

  • Developing sales pitches to sell products/services, making cold calls to sales leads taking calls from prospective customers, and maintaining documentation of their sales like client contracts or invoices.  

  • To securely obtain, process, and store customer data/documentation in accordance with the law.

  • Provide sales quotes to current and prospective clients.

  • Prepare and share daily, weekly, and monthly reports or as it may be scheduled.

  • Attend sales and service meetings as required and share minutes of every meeting with clients.

  • Maintain active client base, prospects, and potential lead source lists.

  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints to enhance customer experience.  

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within the industry.

  • Perform any other activities assigned by the management.

 

Training Requirements (Minimum)

A Degree in Sales and Marketing or any business-related course.

Experience Requirements:

  • Three (3) years of field sales and marketing experience in Logistics/Supply chain or FMCG.

  • Experience in the Sea/Land and Air transport logistics sector will be an added advantage.

  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office and Customer management software. (e.g. CRM)

  • Experience in planning, defining, and executing sales and marketing campaigns to achieve marketing objectives.

  • Good Presentation Skills.

  • Commercial acumen.
