General Description:

Viaservice Tanzania is seeking an Assistant Operations Officer to support the Operations Officer in monitoring and managing the life cycle of guaranteed containers. The role includes ensuring the safe and timely return of containers. This position is open to Tanzanian applicants.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Support the monitoring and tracking of containers to ensure their safe and timely repositioning.

• Prepare and update reports on the status of containers under guarantee.

• Prepare vessel schedules.

• Assist in liaising with clearing agents, shipping lines, container depots, and transporters to ensure accountability of containers under guarantee

• Identify and report challenges hindering compliance with container obligations.

• Support efforts in recovering lost containers and investigate cases of customer default.

• Undertake any additional duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Required Education:

• Minimum Diploma in Freight Logistics Management, Shipping Management, or a related field.

• An East African Customs and Freight Forwarding Practicing certificate will be an added advantage.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

• At least 1-2 years of experience in the operational functions of the shipping or logistics sector.

• Broad knowledge of clearing and forwarding and container management processes.

• Familiarity with shipping documents and international trade processes.

• Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant IT tools.

• Experience in customer service and relationship management.

• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
